Carol Pledger is a New York City-based executive whose prior employers include Goldman Sachs and Accenture. Carol Pledger also believes in the value of community service and has mentored others through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative.

Launched in 2008, the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative works to connect women from countries such as Liberia, India, and China with business and management education, mentoring, and networking.

Earlier this year, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of State. Also in collaboration with the Harvard Kennedy School, the new partnership will further work to support emerging female leaders across the Middle East and Northern Africa in both for-profit and nonprofit industries. The partnership plans to welcome 29 female entrepreneurs from 15 different countries to the United States for two weeks. During this time, the women will complete a program focused on leadership training and entrepreneurship and will leave the United States with additional knowledge needed to grow their businesses and create jobs.
